Who among us will author the future?

It will be the leaders among us, of course. Those brave souls who are willing to step out in front, and to take the risks, those are the one's to whom the rest of us will hitch our wagons.

We all know that our world is very dynamic. Change and complexity have become the new normal. Who among us will work from within to help us all to evolve?

Leadership development is a big subject these days. There are books and journals, magazines and videos about the field of leadership development. What we have learned from the research is that leadership development parallels adult development. Just as we need very mature leaders in our families and communities, so do we need mature leaders in the business world.

While it is easy to see the need for leadership development in family businesses, where issues around succession often arise, there is just as strong a need for leadership development throughout the nonprofit and for profit sectors. Change and complexity don't just visit family businesses; they visit every business environment.

I really enjoy coaching and mentoring leaders.

Sometimes we meet on a weekly basis. Sometimes we meet less frequently. We might discuss an article from the Harvard Business Review, or the substance of a book. We might talk about personal strengths, or the idiosyncrasies of personality. We strategize together. We use Integral Theory, or Polarity Management, or Strategic Thinking, or Conflict Management, or Design Thinking, or whatever tools come to hand to effectively work through the challenges of the day. We learn together as we wonder about what it will take to be in effective control of the growth and development of your business. For me, it is always about the people first. Without them, nothing happens. I work with leaders, and their people, helping them to get along, and get ahead.

It is thrilling for me to work beside a leader that understands and appreciates that the origin of leadership is inside the soul. Leadership is an inside-out job.

In 2008, I read the book Leadership Agility, and much of my thinking has been organized around the Leadership Agility Framework ever since. It would be wonderful if you and I could talk about the normal path of leadership development. The research says that leaders develop step-by-step, stage-by-stage, from being an Expert, to being an Achiever, to being a Catalyst, to being a Co-Creator, to being a Synergist. Few make it to the Catalyst level and beyond. Yet, our success, if not our survival, depends upon more leaders making it to the higher levels of leadership. It is there that leaders have the agility of body, mind, soul, and spirit to effectively manage the change and complexity that confound us so often.

We need highly developed leaders. We quite literally NEED them.

If you are open to a conversation about your growth and development as a leader, then give me a call. No obligation one way or the other. Let's just sit and talk and explore the possibilities. If I can help to maximize your potential as a human being so that you can function with the utmost effectiveness in your role as a leader, then I would be overjoyed. Remember, my mission is to help people at home and at work, to get along, and get ahead.

Email me. Call me.

I would enjoy a conversation with you.
